2) Indepth build
If you atleast understand whats happening around then i hope this basic analysis will help you make the best build for you particular matchup because there is NO OPTIMAL BUILD FOR ALL SITUATIONS
Firstly. Always max
first , there is no reason not to.
Secondly. on level 1
has 20 sec duration vs 40 sec cooldown , on level 2
has 40 sec duration vs 30 sec cooldown , meaning you can hide in it permanently (or while your mana allows that).
Thirdly. SK has large pushing/zoning potential with
, it does 130 aoe damage on level 2, meaning you can easily push your creeps to enemy tower and hopefully lets you farm easily while your melee opponents are to afraid to come near creeps because of the aoe damage. BUT pushing the line means its harder for your team to gang your line opponent and its easier for enemy to gang you.
Lastly. On level 6 you will have 312 base mana, and you need 175+130=305 for burrow+epi combo. If your farm is weak and you cant even dream about arcanes then it might be an option to through in some stats in to your build.

Compared to variety of different skill builds there's no so much difference in item builds.

Not much to explain on core build, health regen is a must on any hero. Pick 3 claritys instead of branches if you plan on roaming early on. Take stout shield if your are going solo line because it will drastically increase your sustainability in the line. Magic stick can prove to be really helpful, it allows you to use burrowstrike 1 additional time in a fight, not mentioning the health gain.
MID GAMEWHY ?
Considering you red all the previous info you realize that SK has huge problems with mana because of that arcanes are a must, you might consider power threads IF your team has enough arcanes already to sustain your mana pool AND you do have enough skill/knowledge to swap between str/int but in most cases arcanes are your taget. Dagger ? You need it to chase/escape and most importantly land your ultimate , MUST HAVE.
LATE GAMEWHY ?
Aghanim lowers your cooldown allowing you to hopefully use it in every team fight. Veil of discord drastically buffs your ultimate damage and helps ofther casters in your team.
Items you might consider purchasingHex is never a bad option
Adds to your initiation damage, slows enemies for easier chase and makes you more durable against melee opponents
If you want to increase your teams physical damage output and/or enemy team has nasty minus armor things
Lets you annoy enemies with burrowstrike even more because of longer lifespan
If you die to physical damage before you run out of mana
Support your melee carrie
If you have to much gold
Personally i dont like this item on SK because you have enough skills/items to avoid getting stunlocked but you may want to buy it against pugna.
If enemy has annoying slows or you want to support your teammates in running away
If you want more map presence
It can help you kill heroes like mirana that can blink/leap away after stun wears off
